Once You're There
We are thrilled to share some of our favorite spots in the area with you.
The National Museum hosts plenty of exquisite art in many forms, from beautiful Impressionist paintings to a wonderful exhibit on the evolution of Norwegian fashion. There is a little something for everyone at this museum.

In addition to all this, the café serves wonderful lunches and hot coffee, and the jam-packed gift shop houses spoils from modern Norwegian designers and prints of the fantastic paintings you have just had the great pleasure of admiring.
What? The best Indian food to be found in Oslo? Why, it's right here! After a long day of shopping on Bogstadveien and Karl Johanns Gate and touring the castle and its gardens, and right before you catch a play at the National Theater, climb on up to Jaipur. Its delightful location on the second floor guarantees you a great view of the street below, but honestly, you'll just be looking at each other in awe as bite after bite sneaks its way toward you. Reservations are not required, but a little bit of money is.
Are you hungry? Have you been walking up a LOT of hills through the charming neighborhoods of Tøyen and Kampen? Then come on down to my favorite bakery in Oslo. Here you will find delectable pastries, strong coffee, and inventive sandwiches.
Now you're just a short walk from the Botanic Gardens, Oslo's newest swimming pool, an old cemetery, and a thousand little shops. If you go to one bakery in Norway, this should be it!
Have you heard of Gustav Vigeland? Me neither! But once you've visited this park, replete with miles of lawns to stretch out in, trees that form a canopy over a small river, Oslo's best outdoor swimming pool, AND a whole array of fantastical statues, you'll remember his park forever.
If you get hungry after all that looking, buy an ice cream from one of many stands littered throughout the park. If that doesn't cut it, Grains Bakery lies in wait just outside the park with fancy sandwiches, delicate pastries, and an entirely overwhelming level of beautiful Norwegian people.
